Cannabidiol, or short for CBD, is one of the many powerful compounds found in hemp, which is known to support the mind and body in many wonderful ways. Among the many benefits that users notice and see results from, some of the main benefits of CBD is a sense of calm & relaxation, more enhanced sleep, help in recovery from exercise-induced inflammation, and more. Due to that, the demand for CBD products has soared and many people who are new to CBD want to know what CBD feels like.
So what does it feel like when you take CBD? Do you feel a sort of “high”? Do you feel tired or drowsy? We’ll get into that, but first, it’s important to note that.
It mostly depends on what your body needs. CBD acts as an adaptogenic, also referred to as “adaptogens”, which is “defined as agents that support the body’s ability to accommodate varying physical and emotional stresses” to influence more of what your body needs while promoting overall health and wellness.
What Does CBD Feel Like?
When you take CBD it takes about 15-30 minutes to feel a difference. Keep in mind that this is not like THC where you feel “high,” but you do feel a sense of calm & relaxation. You may also be in the mood to lie down or take a nap if you’re by your bed, but you shouldn’t worry about taking CBD during the day because it works as an adaptogenic to adapt to what you want or what your body needs. It won’t necessarily make you feel tired or drowsy unless you take high doses or if you were planning on taking a nap or going to bed soon.
What does it feel like taking high doses of CBD or just more than usual? Taking high doses would cause you to definitely feel more relaxed, calm, and in a state of just sitting back and relaxing. Keep in mind that while high doses are well-tolerated and show no side effects other than drowsiness, it isn’t necessary unless you actually need it. Also, keep in mind that you may build a tolerance after several days of taking very high doses and all of sudden not see any effects from taking CBD. If this is the case, then you should take a 3-7 daybreak. Please read our CBD dosing guide to learn more about this.
This is what our customers have to say about what they felt taking CBD.
Lucy, who is a long time customer of ours, said she “noticed much better sleep” and that she “wouldn’t wake up in the middle of the night,” which usually would not allow her to fall back asleep after.
Sharona told us that she was “tired of smoking every night to get quality sleep” and she was ‘really happy because it helped her relax’.
A customer who chose to be anonymous had something nice to say about using our CBD oil. She had ordered our CBD oil, but “with lots of skepticism” and she was taking medications for reasons due to pain and other reasons. Our CBD oil “really did wonders”. She also went on to say how she would take “CBD before the start of class” and was able to “stand through the class” and how she was “also feeling stressed out and tired, this wonder oil allowed me to get better sleep, feel much less stressful and a feeling of peacefulness”.
Another customer said they started to “sleep better” and went on to mention their aches that have “decreased significantly,” which we wish to share but due to the legality of making health claims we cannot.
These are just four of the many feedback that we’ve gotten and we would love to share so much more of what others say, but due to legality reasons, we cannot. All we can say is that you should do your research to read real reviews from people that have tried our products to hear first hand what they’ve noticed.
Here is a video a customer had made for us because they loved our product so much that they “wanted to help us in any way possible to get our name out there”.
What to Know Before Taking CBD
CBD is just one of the many compounds found in hemp that all show to have their own unique trait. The compound that gives the psychoactive “high” or that is intoxicating is Tetrahydrocannabinol, short for THC, while CBD is non-intoxicating along with other plant compounds.
In CBD products, the legal limit of THC is 0.3%. Even though that is a very small percentage, in high doses you can feel a sort of psychoactive high and that’s why we push on Broad Spectrum, which is THC-Free allowing our customers to comfortably consume CBD without feeling any psychoactive “high” that THC gives.
A spectrum of compounds works better together than an isolated CBD extract. CBD is just one of the 80+ cannabinoids found in hemp that can be extracted from and also contains 200+ terpenes, which have all been shown to have extraordinary, positive effects. Scientists and researchers have found that these plant compounds work more effectively when they synergically work together rather than an extract that only contains CBD or just a few of these compounds.
This is known as the Entourage Effect, also known as Whole-Plant Wellness, when multiple compounds, including terpenes, are combined together to work together rather than alone. The perfect analogy for this is, imagine a basketball team with 5 players who work together versus a team with just 1 player doing everything, who would win? Obviously the team with 5 plays who work together.
Broad Spectrum extracts are what we specialize in & this is why we’re a big advocate for achieving in having CBD products with other cannabinoids, terpenes, and other plant compounds intact. This has a lot to do with our success in keeping long term customers as they see our products are unlike other CBD companies.

How much CBD Should You Take to Feel a Difference
We go in-depth into how much CBD you should take in our CBD Dosing guide, which we highly encourage you to check out. We’ve put in a lot of thought and time while keeping the information very basic and straight to the point answering all the questions regarding CBD dosing.
Here is a quick glimpse at what we have to say about CBD dosing:
- New users should always start low and increase the dose slowly, every two to three days, and only 5 – 10mg at a time.
- While high CBD doses are usually well-tolerated, less is more. No one wants to waste CBD, going overboard on dosing is not only a waste, but it can increase the risk of adverse effects such as nausea, fatigue, and drowsiness.
- Many consumers find keeping a journal is beneficial for tracking doses, as well as symptom relief.
- For people with light symptoms, a dose of 10-25mg of CBD per day can be enough to feel the desired effects.
- Be patient instead of quickly increasing the dose. Patience and consistency are key.
